MaxTip: How to Inspire Your Child to Practice

MaxTip To Inspire Your Child To Practice

As a small ant starting to play the violin it was difficult for my parents to get me to practice. I preferred going out to the park and playing with my friends!

My parents knew however that I needed to practice everyday to improve my playing and tried to find ways to convince me that practicing the violin was as cool as playing with my friends!

They knew I loved to play for friends, family and at the school concerts so they told me 'Max, if you want to perform publicly you need to practice'. Boy were they right!

Practice. Consistently.

A student of mine asked me recently 'Max, I'd like to learn the Oskar Rieding Violin Concertino op.21 'in the Hungarian style' but it sounds really difficult. Do you think I can play it?'

I just answered simply. 'Yes, it is a difficult concertino but if you practice consistently for a few months you will learn it!'

PRACTICE. CONSISTENTLY.

Are those the two magic words to learn a music piece well? Do you agree?
